The story of the GMT-Master II
The GMT-Master was born in the middle of the last century from a very specific brief: pilots on transoceanic flights needed to read two time zones at once, home and destination. Hence its two signatures: the twenty-four-hour hand and the graduated rotating bezel, which adds a third zone by turning it. The «II» came later, when the hour hand became independently adjustable and the watch could be reset on landing without stopping it. The two-tone bezels, where almost every nickname comes from, exist to tell day hours from night hours at a glance.
